mmWave Radio overview

Multi-gigabit point-to-point

Links from 1 Gbps to 20 Gbps.

V-band and E-band options

60 GHz licence-exempt and 70 & 80 GHz lightly licensed radios.

Interference-free pencil beams

Very narrow beams allow dense installations and high frequency reuse.

Ready out of the box

Align and pass traffic without a laptop or smartphone.

Field proven and reliable

90+ years MTBF, IP67 sealed, −45 °C to +55 °C.

Multiband backup

Pair with a sub-6 GHz or microwave link for long distances.

Why mmWave

Millimetre-wave spectrum offers the widest channels available, so a single radio link can carry fibre-like capacity.

Abundant spectrum

  • Uncongested and inexpensive
  • Very wide channels
  • Multi-gigabit air capacity
  • Robust modulation

Pencil beams

  • 0.5–1° beams with 1 ft and 2 ft antennas
  • Practically no interference
  • High frequency reuse, dense installs
  • Secure transmission

Clear line of sight

  • No obstructions in the path
  • Negligible Fresnel zone
  • Stable, short poles with two anchor points

Shorter range

  • Attenuated by heavy rain
  • 57–65 GHz also absorbed by oxygen
  • Plan each link with a link budget

Which band?

V-band

Short, licence-exempt links up to about 1 km: street-level CCTV, Wi-Fi backhaul, campus and lift-shaft links.

E-band

Multi-gigabit backbone over several kilometres: fibre extension, fibre backup and ring closure.

Licensing varies by country; check local regulations. Typical ranges assume clear line of sight.
